Local Files Not Syncing on Spotify iOS App? Here’s How to Fix

There’s this recurring issue of Spotify that we’re all too familiar with: local files stored from our computer suddenly don’t sync over to Spotify’s iPhone app. A quick Google search reveals it’s an issue affecting thousands of users. And sure it’s straight out annoying, considering that you lose access to tens or hundreds of local tracks coming from sources outside of Spotify.

Spotify, despite being the streaming behemoth that she is, is still marred with performance and playback issues that are too random that sometimes you get a random fix. This Spotify syncing issue usually happens immediately after a major update on its iOS app. Spotify could be introducing new features or purging locally stored data, causing synced local files to get wiped out.

New Chrome Extension by Google Scans All Your Leaked Passwords Online, Alerts You To Update Your Credentials

Google launches Password Checkup, a Chrome extension that alerts you if your login information appear in a data breach known to Google.

Several months ago, the internet is awash with news of data breaches and scandals perpetrated by bounty hunters, ransomware and bored security scientists. A handful of apps and services have been affected including Yahoo, Spotify, Netflix, Facebook among others.

The incident expectedly sparked outrage, prompting tech companies to revisit and beef up their cybersecurity and alert its millions of users to change their passwords immediately.

Yours truly wasn't spared from these leaks. A few months ago I discovered that my Spotify account had been used somewhere by a device I don't recognize, which fortunately had been patched up by Spotify. And of all the horrors of data leaks affecting my own personal account, the one that takes the cake: I discovered that my Gmail login information was publicly being dumped in a public domain for everyone to see.

That's where I began to take a serious look and acknowledged that there was indeed a data breach going on, prompting me to add few more security layers to all my online accounts including setting up two-factor authentication (2FA). And that's what inspires Google to launch Password Checkup, a Chrome extension that alerts you when your passwords are no longer safe and prompts to re-secure your account.

We always love to talk about something cool and awesome in the web. And one of those top-notch web services I just discovered that truly deserves a mention on this blog is: Loudlee.

Loudlee (link) is a brand new music service created by Guy Elharar and Yaron Revah. This Israel-based website harnesses the power of YouTube that gives users a whole new option to discover and listen to their favorite music online. Loudlee is like Pinterest, but for music.

How does Loudlee work?

Loudlee comes with intuitively neat interface, making it easy to use. All you need is a Facebook account, and do a one-time registration using that account. After linking your Facebook account, Loudlee should bring a page which features most recent artists/albums other Loudlee users are tuning to. Here you can hover/navigate through the albums being featured and hit "Play" or "Add".

Clicking on "Play" button should bring a nifty music player that sits at the right side of the screen, which displays the video of the current song. You may also "Add" tracks to your current playlist from other albums, making your online music experience truly more personal.

The only downside for Loudlee I think is that you cannot save your playlist, but I believe this is an upcoming feature.

Last year, YouTube rolled out a massively popular update to their iOS and Android app which completely redefines every YouTuber's streaming experience. How To: Watch YouTube, Netflix on Sticky, Floating Window While Keeping Other Apps Opened

Ever wanted to watch your favourite movies and TV shows on Netflix or YouTube while opening other work-related apps? Well now, you can continue to look busy and pretend working while enjoying your guilty pleasure movies on Netflix and YouTube.

Being able to dock YouTube or Netflix videos on a nice, overlay window that floats over other opened apps is one great feature Google Chrome and Firefox could introduce to its core. Sadly though, that picture-in-picture (PiP) feature is currently not supported in their recent version for both Windows and Mac. So we are all left in the dark, given the classic option of staying within the browser to continue watching your favorite stuff.

But, someone decided to change that.

A Chrome extension called Picture in Picture for YouTube & Other adds an unofficial PiP support for Chrome that works well with YouTube, Facebook and Netflix. Which means, you can pop out virtually any active playing video into a small, draggable mini-mode window that sits nicely on top of other opened apps.

3. Once a video begins to load, click on that tiny PiP icon. Netflix or YouTube video player should automatically dock at the bottom right of your screen as an overlay. Feel free to drag or resize it.
4. Now, head back to whatever it is you're working and continue juggling emails or pretend you're busy writing stuff, etc.

The really nice thing about this Chrome add-on is that it continues to play your Netflix or YouTube videos in a nice resizable floating overlay even if you're opening other apps like office apps, CRMs, code editor, and just about anything. Just make sure the video is actively playing in a tab.

10 Efficiency Tips for Mac Users

Tip #4: Clean Your Desktop

To become more efficient, keep a clean desktop. Maintaining hundreds of items on your screen will make it difficult to locate the files you are looking for. More to it, if you do not name your files properly, you may send the wrong file to a client of yours.

Also, the more thumbnails you have on your desktop, the slower your Mac becomes. To display every icon, the computer is using system resources, which slows down your Mac.

Tip #5: Empty the Trash Bin

If you have recently deleted a bunch of files to clear some system storage, do not forget to remove them from the Trash Bin as well.

Remember that as long as you keep the deleted files in the Trash Bin, they are still taking up disk space and slowing down your Mac, thus making you inefficient.

Tip #6: Use Cloud Storage

For creative people who work as graphic designers, photographers, or video editors, it may be difficult to keep enough free storage space. Therefore, another solution, such as using a cloud storage service, might be necessary.

More to it, using a cloud service will bring in more benefits, such as easy file access and sharing.

Tip #7: Invest in External Storage Solutions

However, to use a cloud storage service efficiently and without any annoying interruptions, you will need to ensure a strong network connection.
